A list of some of Chelsea Rod & Gun's Public Services.
Boy Scouts:
"The Chelsea Rod and Gun Club fully supports the local community Troop
425 of the Boy Scouts of America and allows the use our club facilities
and grounds for their regular meetings and other special events. Troop
425 meets every Monday in the CRG clubhouse at 7:00pm. For more information
on The Boy Scouts of America and Troop 425, visit their website: http://www.t425.org/.
Additionally, through special requests to our BOD, our club facilities
and grounds can be available for other youth group activities and special
events.
MUCC Camp for Kids:
The Chelsea Rod and Gun Club, as a charter member of the MUCC, also
supports the MUCC Camp for Kids program. The program is an outdoors camp
for children from 9 to 16 years of age for the purpose of educating and
promoting conservation. They learn about fishing, riflery, archery, ecology,
and other fun outdoor topics and activities so that they can enjoy the
outdoors safely and responsibly. For 2010 - The Camp is located at the Howell
Nature Center in Howell, Michigan (http://www.howellnaturecenter.org/).
The CRG provided support in the securing and rebuilding of the Cedar Lake facilities in Chelsea as a new location
to hold the Camp for Kids. Our partner organization - The Pinview Conservation Club - also sponsors 2-3 selected children of the families of the membership each year to attend the Camp for Kids. For more information, visit the Camp for Kids website: http://www.mucc.org/camp/index.php
Scholarships / St. Patrick’s Day Dinner:
This annual event is open to club members and guests. For some 15 years
the club has sponsored this event featuring traditional corned beef, cabbage,
potatoes, and carrots as the mainstays for this St. Patrick’s Day dinner.
This is a very worthwhile and family fun activity with proceeds going to
our scholarship fund. Some trivia of interest: we have served well over
3500 lbs. of corn beef, 300 heads of cabbage, 150 heads of celery, 500
lbs red potatoes, 350 lbs small onions, 300 lbs carrots, and 2300 dinner
rolls.
Our program has donated in excess of $20,000 to the Chelsea Community
Schools Collage Scholarship Program. We award three $500.00 scholarships
annually in our effort to support the local community and promote the future
of wildlife conservation. These scholarships are awarded to students who
wish to explore a career in natural resources, conservation, biology, law
enforcement, or related fields.
