State Smoking Ban in effect May 1st

On Saturday May 1st, a law banning smoking state-wide in public establishments goes into effect. Unfortunately for some of our membership, this smoking ban applies to the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club as well. For any events or meetings taking place after May 1st, smoking will not be allowed inside the CRG clubhouse. Smoking will still be acceptable outside the clubhouse on the grounds.

CR&G Youth Group wins at Grass Lake Sportsmans Club!

The CR&G Youth Group was recently invited over to the Grass Lake Sportsman�s Club (GLSC) for a friendly competition with their youth group involving .22 rifle and trap. After a hard fought battle under a hot blazing sun, CR&G managed to win the overall club trophy. Although Grass Lake had both the top male and female shooters, our strong bench support was enough to get the job done. Due to time limits, the kids shot three position (prone, sitting, offhand) slow fire .22 in the morning and then had two rounds of trap in the afternoon with lunch in between. The GLSC were very gracious hosts to our kids and we look forward to returning the favor the next time we meet. Be sure to check out the trophy the youth group won. It�s the blue one that may be in various locations throughout the club house.

GOOD JOB BY ALL!

The club thanks all who participated by purchasing tickets and thanks for bringing your guests who were strong participants at the jamboree. Ticket sales and revenue were down again this year with 565 tickets sold including 36-$100 packets sold! I believe that having the drawing at the Jamboree really saved us we sold over 225 tickets there keeping the effort worthwhile. We had members (including probationary members) who sold good quantities of tickets, a great effort! I consider it another success; we made money. After expenses I expect to net close to $3,600 to the YTF fund. THE YTF COMMITTEE THANKS YOU!

Trap Event: "Small-Bore" Classic - .410, 28 and 20 Gauges

SEPTEMBER 12th, 2009 - "Small-Bore" Classic.
The Chelsea Rod and Gun club small bore classic is a fun event to give hunters a little tune up before hunting season. There will be a total of 50 targets: The targets are 25 wobble trap, 20 doubles and 5 fleeing grouse. There will be three separate classes. One for .410, one for 28 gauge and one for 20 gauge. 410 will shoot from a 14 yard line, 28 gauge from a 15 yard line and 20 gauge from the standard 16 yard line. You are welcome to shoot more than one class. Cost is 20.00 per class, half will be paid back. Lewis class will be paid for each class. How deep depends on how many shooters. Scorekeeper is always right.
